On Saturday, May 18th, at the multipurpose center of Locate di Triulzi (MI) located at 9 Via Luigi Calori, the meeting “Locate for the commons” will take place from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The event is open to everyone and has been organized by the AUDe – Architecture and Urban Design laboratory with the scientific committee composed of Ioanni Delsante and the organizing committee formed by Linda Migliavacca.
During the morning, numerous experiences concerning the themes of common goods, horizontal subsidiarity, and collaboration agreements will be presented, tools that simplify the relationship between Public Administration and active citizenship, with the aim of promoting the care of the city, in this case, Locate di Triulzi. Following the institutional greetings from the administration, a round table will be held with contributions from Giuseppe Baratta (Head of Innovation, Common Goods, Youth Policies and Equal Opportunities Sector of the Municipality of Verona), Prof. Margherita D’Andrea (Sociologist of Law at the University Napoli Suor Orsola Benincasa), Prof. Giuseppe Micciarelli (Department of Social Sciences at the University of Napoli Federico II), Giuseppe Giacalone (President of the Moruzzi Road association operating in Pavia), and Linda Migliavacca (Ph.D. candidate at the University of Pavia) who will moderate the contributions. Prof. Ioanni Delsante (Architecture and Architectural and Urban Composition at the DICAr Department of the University of Pavia) will moderate the interventions. This will be followed by a debate among participants and questions from the audience, concluding with a summary of the topics discussed and the morning session.

“We, as a department, are very proud to support the Municipality of Locate di Triulzi in this journey because we believe it is a virtuous path inspired by Italian best practices,” said Prof. Ioanni Delsante. “In this sense, there are many Italian cities, including Bologna, Verona, and Padua, which have been operating for several years using subsidiarity principles and regulations for common goods to virtuously use and transform the territory. We as architects are extremely interested in these dynamics because they are the basis for sustainable urban transformations, also in social terms, and because they allow the creation of common spaces, as advocated by Stavros Stavrides, that are long-lasting.”
“The event, both for the citizens of Locate di Triulzi and for the students of the course, will be important to raise awareness about the importance of common goods and collaboration practices between institutions and citizens for the care of the city,” commented Prof. Diego Torriani. “The debate will lead to the exchange of knowledge and best practices among experts, public administrators, academics, and active citizens, aiming to stimulate participation and civic engagement and, perhaps, gather insights, suggestions, and proposals to improve the relationship between public administration and active citizenship.”
“Through listening to other existing realities, it will be possible to present significant experiences of administrations and citizenship in order to inspire concrete actions and innovative projects in the local context,” concluded Dr. Linda Migliavacca.
In conclusion, the main objective of the event is to promote greater awareness and involvement of the local community in decision-making processes and territorial management, in order to promote the development of more effective public policies that respond to the real needs of citizens.
The event was organized with the course in Architecture and Architectural Composition 1 held by Prof. Ioanni Delsante and Prof. Diego Torriani thanks to the sponsorship of the Municipality of Locate di Triulzi and supported by the Erasmus+ KA2 project ‘SArPe’, focused on the themes of architecture pedagogy, in a ‘situated’ manner, involving stakeholders, including non-institutional ones. The 3-year project involves collaboration from partners at Istanbul Technical University, Technical University of Delft, and the University of Malaga, foreseeing numerous activities including workshops and summer schools.
